X-COM: UFO Defense Review (Lömsk Kråka)

This is not as much a game as a legacy. X-Com: UFO defense or UFO: Enemy Unknown as it was known in parts of Europe is still the pinnacle of squad based isometric combat marinated in mighty base building, fancy research and aerial combat that oozes Top Gun level of danger zones! You are shouldering the burden of being a top secret globally funded anti-alien taskforce whose sole reason is to repel the alien menace that have shown up on mother earth in a plotline that resembles a glorious matchup of Aliens, Independence Day and The X-Files. To combat the alien you bring squads of absolute badasses to dropsites to stop alien terrorist attacks, assaulting down UFOs and infiltrating Alien bases. All the alien technology you encounter as well as all the gribblies you execute/paralyse during the missions can at your glorious base be subjected to reverse engineering, autopsies as well as behavioral analyses to crack the alien code one plasma gun at a time.
Despite being quite old this game started a genre that to this day is staying strong and has a lot of great sequels, both direct (Firaxis XCom: Enemy Unknown) and spiritual (Xenonauts, Phoenix Point) as well as a few stumbling mistakes (Enforcer and The Bureau to name a few). This is where it all started and to this day this game is in my humble opinion nothing short of a masterpiece!
Its graphics may be aged but it is still a golden oldie. Check it out if you want to see where it all began!
