X-COM: UFO Defense (or UFO: Enemy Unknown) is a predecessor of dumbed down/simplified XCOM: Enemy Unknown. Pixel graphics got old really well and with Open X-Com mod which allows for fluent vanilla experience with some necessary tweaks this is a blue diamond game shining with its perfect light for 30-70hours of gameplay depending on your playing style with no grind and exquisite, desperate feeling of trying to stop the near-unstoppable Alien conquest of the Earth. When you do your best, but yet another government sign secret pacts with Aliens, you know that future is not guaranteed and all depends on you and your men and following months. Excellent TBS and 90's horror in one. There's also this X-Com Files mod for this one that allows you to play it with X-Files taste, starting from just 2 agents going by publicly available transport to various X-Files alike missions. This perfect game is a legend and thanks to the modding community and Steam, it is even better when it was when it was released. 11/10 game. Great value for money and highly recommended.
