Wreckfest Review (Press start to begin)

Finally there is a really successful successor to Destruction Derby and Flatout.
On very well-designed circuits you compete with wonderfully handling cars. The damage model is top notch, making any race a spectacle.

Racing is only a small part of Wreckfest, by the way. This new game is also mainly about physical contact with your opponents.
Laughing, screeching and especially a lot of pounding, a wonderful combination.
In different races you compete against big names like 'Nasty Nate', 'Grease Finger' and 'Slash Maniac'.
Admit it, driving an American muscle car rednecks upside down, isn't it fantastic? Just when you think, 'meh, been there, done that', however, you are presented with an event where you have to race with a lawnmower, but you are chased by a giant combine harvester during the race. Or how about a race against school buses or a real survival derby?
The game also works great on a steam deck: https://youtu.be/hXSLwkb89Xo
What really gives Wreckfest its own identity is the selection of vehicles and the composition of races.
This provides entertainment, hilarious scenes and a fun challenge. With a lot of races in the single player you will be busy for a while, which makes it even more commendable that Wreckfest is being placed in the shops for a reasonable mid-price.
And once you're done with the single player, you can try your luck online and you can count on the chaos being complete, because rules are completely irrelevant in this game.
