The Blind Prophet Review (Ariakos)
Blind Prohet is one of those games where I am on the edge if I should recommend it or not. It is very atmospheric adventure game that remind me of Hellboy (in a good way) but be warned: it is also very, very linear and filled with minigames that range from frustrating to overtly simple. Adventure puzzles themselves are usually simple and logical.
Good:
+ Atmosphere
+ Graphics (gritty, very Mike Mignola style of gothic horror)
+ Background lore is scarce but fascinating
Bad:
- Minigames (either too easy so they feel like filler or infuriatingly hard and they feel like game prolongers)
- Some puzzle mechanics. In some occasions I knew what I should do to advance but the game wanted me to do something arbitrary first (like LOOK at the item before I could use/take it).
- Relatively short (I completed it in less than 7 hours).
- Very linear (the plot keeps you in short leash, never much alternative routes)
Verdict: Get it from sale if the graphic outlook pleases your eye(s) and occult story interests you.
