Resident Evil 4: Separate Ways Review (Dark11Void)

Makes the original Separate Ways feel like an asset flip by comparison. Ada got everything that was pushed away from Leon's campaign, which are things that make more sense for Ada (needed something to do anyway). More story content. And as a number of people have already stated: about as much if not more content in this $10 DLC than all of R3make... God I hated R3make. Loved 3 original. I'm glad Capcom stepped in and pulled REm4ke away from that studio, but I digress.
While I can understand some people being unhappy that they didn't get Separate Ways as a free expansion, I can only say: What exactly did you expect? Yeah, it was obvious (extremely obvious) that Separate Ways was coming based on the context clues from the base game. And yeah, the original (but not technically, Gamecube didn't have it -- THE original version) game had it. But it was basically just a gauntlet from point A to point B with some a couple seconds of horrific-quality FMVs thrown in here and there for story. Then just throw in a couple of recycled boss encounters and there ya go. A bit of a step-up from Assignment Ada (which was completely forgettable).
I can't say I cared all that much for the original. But I guess they needed a reason for people to buy RE4 a second time (and a PS2). Because they didn't release it as an expansion for GameCube. Nope. Had to buy a whole new console to play a heavily downgraded version of RE4.
Also, really? It's $10. That's a steal for such a good chunk of content. The Deluxe Edition clearly specified what it came with. And the base game felt complete. Gotta love tantrums.
