Oddworld: New 'n' Tasty - Alf's Escape Review (FuzionFire)

How far would you go to save just one person? Would you be willing to put yourself in harms way, even risk your life in a setting so dangerous that only the surface of the Sun would be considered more life-threatening just to save some stranger with a fez? Alf's Escape asks that question, as players will be put through a gauntlet of some of the most malevalent architecture ever seen in a fictional world. If you've rescued (almost) all the mudokons and could practically beat Oddworld: New 'n' Tasty in your sleep, then this is the challenge you've been waiting for. While it may not be impossible, the maps that comprise Alf's Escape were designed to push the limits of what's possible, and by that I mean it's full of cheap surprises, frustratingly difficult segments, and more sligs, zappers, and bonesaws than you can shake a shotgun that fires like an assault rifle at.
Despite all that, Alf's Escape is a rewarding type of bonus level DLC with a level of difficulty that would inspire companies like Nintendo that pride themselves in challenging, infuriating, yet worthwhile level design. I admittedly found a few parts to be pretty clever myself, with puzzle elements used in ways I had never seen them used before. Are you an Oddworld fan looking to prolong the life of New 'n' Tasty while supporting the developers? Are you looking for a good challenge? Do you have what could be considered mentally sadomasochistic tendencies? Then Alf's Escape is for you!
