New World: Rise of the Angry Earth Review (Lidiq)
If you are wondering why the DLC of the original game - New World, has such bad reviews, let me run you down quickly what has happened the last 3 years.
-Game releases on September 2021 reaching close to 1 million peek players.
-In less than 2 months, the game loses around 70% of the players due to numerous bugs, glitches, gold exploits and so on.
-The devs try to handle the bugs, but by doing so they somehow create new ones in the process.
-The game loses even more players and cycle continues.
-Eventually Brimstone expansion (not DLC) comes out and brings back a lot of people. Almost triple the amount of active players at that time.
-Players quickly find that the end game is still the same and there is nothing to play for.
-Players also find out that most of the bugs plus additional ones are still in the game.
-Numbers start to drop again and it doesn't look good.
-The dev team publishes a road map for 2023 which looks promising. Unfortunately they deliver between 5% to 10% from it.
-Same old cycle of bugs and glitches repeats for a full year of 2023.
-New DLC comes out, but this time is paid one.
-Adding some features like artefacts and new mob types, but in general way less content than the previous non-purchase expansion.
-December 2023 they avoid a new road map for 2024, due to not being able to deliver on the previous one.
-Informing the players that in May 2024 they will have more to share, which technically is 6 months of silence.
-In April they delay the announcement to June.
-End of May, a teaser video is released which unleashes the rage of the player base, as there is no information in it at all.
-June finally comes and the developers announce that the game will be re-released on consoles in its current state. The only new addition to it is a 10 man dungeon and a small PvP island.
Now if that is a story you want to be part of, welcome to Aeternum :) And by the way, Aeternum is not a game. That's just the name of the island in which the game lore is located. Don't get confused :)
