Monument Valley 2 Review (Seeker Cassie)

***POTENTIAL STORY SPOILERS***

First off, let me say that this sequel from is incredible in nearly every way. The visuals are just as good, and the music is even better than the first game. The puzzles have been expanded upon while still keeping the same core ideas intact. But the story in this game has been pushed to the Nth degree. The story itself is fairly simple, but once again deals with some heavy themes. It is the story of childhood and growing up, both from a child's and mother's perspectives. But the visual storytelling here is legitimately the best I have ever seen in a game. Showing the mother leading the way in puzzles with the child following behind, then the child leading the way, before eventually having them both move independently. Also, the puzzles lose all of their color to show depression/sadness. Finally, visually showing the child climbing a mountain higher than the mom and their ancestors is just peak (pun intended). With all of this praise, however, this game has the same issues as the first game in my opinion. The puzzles, while cool, are not all that difficult, so for people who enjoy challenging puzzles games, this is not for you. Additionally, the game is very short, even more so than the original, and the price is the same, $7.99 at full price. While it is subjective and up for debate if this is a fair price for the amount of game you get, I am on the side of this game being a bit expensive. The game is absolutely worth playing, however, and well worth picking up. Just maybe wait for sale if you ask me.
