Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor - Lord of the Hunt Review (CannedBison)
While the original title is top-notch and easily one of Top 10 titles that I've enjoyed on Steam so far, the several DLC packs for "Mordor" are strangely lacking as though these projects were an afterthought following the release rather than a part of the original plan. The "Lord of the Hunt" DLC adds a few additional missions with perhaps 2-4 hours of additional content, but it is not based on any new maps or enemies, just a few new mechanics that feel forced and unenjoyable.
There are only three major additions to the original title here - a larger shadowcat to ride (which is framed as stealthy but handles like a battletank with a missing tread), a much uglier Graug which can also spit projectiles (but much more slowly than your bow), and a mechanic for dominating Ghuls which works as well as holding water in your fist. Besides the fact that these are terrible additions, the game forces Talion to use 'exactly' these features on all new missions which kills the pacing and makes a serious dent in my respect for the original title. If you do find yourself buying just the original "Mordor" I can't think of any persuasive reason why you would want any of the DLC paired with it.
