Lakeburg Legacies Review (daze)
My friends and I have been playing this game and been absolutely addicted. Granted, it's my friend who plays the Master difficulty while I set it to "social" and pair up villagers as I see fit, so I cannot judge the building aspect on higher difficulties too much.
Pros:
- adorable art style and fun music, I never got sick of either
- you can change the characters' appearance and name
- the difficulty settings let everyone customise their game to what they want it to be, I can focus on the social side while my friend can plan long lasting legacies for the perfect min-max Superman
- gay couples can adopt children
Cons:
- the UI feels like it needs improvement. I'd prefer words you can hover over, especially for events that give you traits. I'd like to know what I get
- it's easy to lose track of your characters, especially as the town grows. You can filter people, but I'd like to be able to create pins and, say, a favoured family. I'd like to see character profiles with more personal history that's easier to access
- I'm unsure if this is a personal bug for me but the game kept unpausing when I didn't want it to
- I haven' seen a way yet to get rid of anyone but the king. No banishment, no intrigues or gossip, no murder plots, no "everyone hates me so I'll leave the village"
Personally I'd be fine with less management and more social interactions, or even playing favorite with a few characters. Follow them, see more of their story, a bit more like you'll get attached to your families in Crusader Kings.
More events would be great. Perhaps even more hazards (maybe manual saves along with them?) and ways to have characters interact (on our account, not just random chance), and I'd instantly buy.
More suggestions:
- some sort of god mode to create characters. Can be dev mode, can be something with a high cost
- to mention Rimworld and its mods for a moment, there were settings you could change for behavior rules, such as increasing or decreasing the likelihood of, say, cheating. It would be interesting to have game rules to change. Unlikely to be included in this game, but maybe in the future
- include a tutorial you can access again
I know it's crazy to ask for a sequel when a game hasn't been out for a year yet, but I'd absolutely play it, or even a DLC with added traits, cosmetics and events. Pretty please, I don't want to go back to the Rimworld and CK complexities when I'm here to play Cupid and laugh at crazy interactions.
Edited to include more suggestions.
