Kingdom Eighties Review (quaidis)

Kingdom Eighties is a nostalgic game about paying off kindergartners to help you win summer back for everyone. Beat it on Normal in 4 hours, then went around getting achievements for a good 8 more - using a keyboard. Difficulty can be set in game.
This is a good entrance game to the series. Like Kingdom's little bro. Casual-normal are fair for kids and newcomers, hard is for those who want a little challenge, and Cursed is for everyone else who's played the rest of Kingdom's franchise line. There's also a survival mode to see how long you can last.
Unlike the other games, Kingdom 80s is single-player only. Assumingly because you play a specific character.
Also unlike other Kingdoms, this game follows a story. Meaning it's linear. You cannot go back to previous lands. Each land accompanies a VHS-style cartoon vid leading you onto the next chapter. There are 4 chapters total, each filled to the brim with fun oldschooled Saturday Morning vibes, rides that are a blast from the past, and all the static flair and vibrant colors you will ever dream of.
The soundtrack is rad. Perfect for this universe.
The assets have been repixelled for the 80s. Now there are present-day buildings, pools, and cars. It's amazing how different it is compared to everything else Fury Studios made with the same assets.
While I like the whole of it, there are some things I'd wish were different: One is I wish there was more of a reason to take out portals on the beach side of the map. Like the towers, where you can bring more people to the next area or... I don't know... Something more than one coin bucket and that's it for the rest of the game. Two, I wish there were bigger hints on some of the mounts like the space ship in Part 1.

I loved what they did with this game and the fresh-out-of-the-box newness with it. Definitely worth my money, and I hope to go back and get the two remaining achievements I'm lacking. If you've played Kingdom games and like them, just get this already. You know you'll like it. And it's different enough to give some fresh air.
