Kingdom Come: Deliverance II - Brushes with Death Review (MaXP4inT)

I've made a mistake starting the DLC after completing the game. As a result, there was nothing for me to do while the DLC quests asked me to wait (which happens at least once or twice in each quest). The quests themselves feel artificially prolonged and not inspiring. Mostly, generic fetch quests. This would be fine if mixed with the rest of the interesting base game, but extremely dull after the game's completion. You have to milk the main quest giver to give you any good reason to help them, they are very stingy with their reasoning and it doesn't pay off at the end - some side quests in the base game had better stories than this.
Some of the rewards are cool and would be even cooler if received before acquiring the best gear in the game. I am not willing to sacrifice the best stats for some cool looks (especially when the looks might be a bit immersion-breaking).
For someone who wielded a long sword only, I had no good reason to try the shield painting mechanics. Maybe, painting the armor (or at least changing its color, Erik's white armor looked kinda cool), or doing something with horse customization would appeal to a wider audience.
I've noticed that the DLC is less polished than the base game. At one point, I had to restart the game to progress in the quest. At another a character has told me that they will talk to me later, started walking towards a distant location, and nothing stopped me from just talking to them again and progressing further with the dialogues - feels pointless and artificially prolonged.
In summary, if you are enjoying the base game, play the DLC alongside the rest of the content. If you have already finished the game, wait for the rest of the DLCs to come out and start a new game in hardcore mode. This DLC by itself is not worth playing after completing the game and leaves an unpleasant aftertaste after eating a Michelin-star dish, which the base game is.
