A Hidden Gem for Roguelike Fans – Totally Worth It!
Just hit 100% achievements after around 10 hours, and I’ve got to say – Hollow Survivors absolutely delivered.
The pixel art style is simply gorgeous, full of charm and detail. The story might be short, but it’s engaging enough to push you to climb higher and higher through the tower. There's a real sense of progression that kept me coming back.
The weapons are where things get interesting.
The starting sword could use a slight range buff (maybe via a key/item upgrade?), and the two-handed axe, while powerful, feels impractical in later floors where you barely get the time to charge your strikes.
That said, the bow adds a fresh and strategic twist to the gameplay thanks to its range, and the scythe… wow. The scythe is phenomenal – it’s fun, powerful, and allows you to switch between styles effortlessly, whether you’re going for quick strikes or charged hits. It really stole the show for me!
There may not be a massive variety of enemies, but each one feels distinct and comes with its own mechanics – and that's a huge plus in my book. Quality over quantity, and it works great here.
I truly hope this isn’t the last we see of this world. Whether it's a sequel, expansion, or even more updates – I’ll be waiting day one!
It’s the kind of game that reminds me why I love roguelikes – quick sessions, satisfying progress, and that addictive "just one more run" feeling.
