Goblin Stone Review (Meatwagonz)
20 hours in and all i can say is... i don't feel compelled to finish the game. I really wanted to like this game as i've been following the development in discord for about a year now. here are some of my issues:
- I wish the narrator wouldn't speak every. single. time. i pick up some loot. It stops me from accessing my inventory until he finishes speaking and its frustrating. It would be okay (i guess) if he had more than 5 lines of dialogue when i picked up something but it gets repetitive.
- I succeeded at failing a 3% chance of failure and lost my best goblin right before a boss fight.
- The merge options for the main base are limited, i have LOADS of space for repeated buildings but whats the point???
- In my opinion it takes WAY too long to get access to the other units.
- Breeding can be a huge hit and miss, whats the point of showing 3 different potential spawns and not getting any of them, or even close for that matter.
- Traps DO NOT have a 50% chance of going off on hits.... i know it isn't impossible for these to fail 8 -10 times in a row... like i'm sure i can flip a coin to land on heads 8 times in a row... eventually...
- The art style is nice and i liked the writing.
- I haven't run into any save corruption issues like some others have in their comments...sounds like a bad time. So no issues for me there.
- The weapons felt punchy but there was definitely a lack of options in weapons and attacks that made an impact. There was really only 3 'attacks' i felt useful for a couple classes.... not to mention the fact that some cool weapons i found along the way i cannot bring back with me... like... what? Why? I already have WAY too much gold and the merchant never has any good weapons so why cant i keep my loot i found while exploring?
I just wish there was more reason to keep playing other than grind for materials to eventually get a new class to only be let down again by breeding over and over again. It just feels too slow. I dont know if this is supposed to be a long game or a short game and i don't feel like some of the devs did either :( Sorry.
