GigaBash: Godzilla 4 Kaiju Pack Review (The Shin Kicker)

TLDR at the bottom - As a longtime Godzilla fan since I was a child, this DLC pack is a dream come true. At first, I was thinking, "10$ is a little much is it?", but hey you're getting four characters. And to any Godzilla fan; THEY'RE WORTH IT. They're absolutely worth every penny.
Gigan has his look from the Showa Era instead of Millenium, so he isn't edgy with chainsaw blades. He plays sort of rush-downish, having limited ranged abilities but many tools to close the gaps and fight close. His block special is absolute fan-service, allowing him to teleport and slash down from the sky. He has his own bleeding status too, where anyone with it will take more damage while moving! Ultimate is a flurry of swipes, slashes, and blitzing around the screen. His S-Class transformation makes him grow bigger, and makes him seemingly have more detail on his model. Might just be because he's bigger, but eh. Very cool. My favorite part, his fourth taunt; he sharpens his claw blades by dragging it across his sharp beak mouth. He reels back from the pressure he puts on it, and then goes into a cool pose, it's AWESOME! You gotta see it to believe it.
Destroyah is AWESOME; they packed so much love into this kaiju, it's insane. Yes, you have your generic sword attacks, but Destroyah is BRUTAL in how he attacks; grabbing you with his tail and dragging you across the screen, grappling you with his hands and SUPLEXING you into the sky, you can even choose where you both land! His air-grab drags you back down to the ground and forces your opponent to have a close heart-to-heart with the floor, DBS Broly style. Also he has a double jump. S-Class makes you bigger, yada yada, but his Ultimate makes him form into mini-Destroyah's like the movie! His moves have impact, and he wants to be close, he wants to eviscerate, true to his role in the movie. Destroyah is an awesome contender for who I want to main in this game, simply because of how raw-feeling his moves are in combat.
The third unit we have is Mechagodzilla, aka, the MFS Type-3 Kiryu! He's not only my favorite Mecha-Godzilla, but might be one of my favorite mechas of all time. His gameplay feels the weakest to me personally, and that's only because he's a zoner, which I'm not a big fan of the archetype. However, new is good, because unlike the Godzilla DAMM / STE / Unleashed games where he's close range, this version of Kiryu REALLY makes you feel like you're piloting the tame calm version rather than when he's berserk. He's stiff animation-wise, but he's supposed to be, he's being piloted, contrary to the colorful gameplay. I actually feel I'm piloting the man, mashing X has never felt more mecha-like! Personally, I'd rather have it the other way around and play the savage Kiryu, but this is a nice change of pace, and I can see why they went for it to fill in the gameplay gaps. Kiryu has the weapon-control-system so you have to balance your attacks, light and heavy. You have plenty of options though in moves, so at most this system exclusive to Kiryu prevents you from spamming, and that's fine in my opinion. He uses missiles and lasers to keep you out, but possesses an energy blade and retreating block-attack to make you think twice. Ultimate, make you bigger, yada yada, (unfortunate that he doesn't go berserk here) but he shines in his ultimate where he brings out all of his utility! Electric Breath, Missiles, firepower, even his absolute zero-cannon! He goes berserk too! He's an awesome character, and I think I might main him simply for being of my favorite characters in the entire Godzilla series.
You know him, you love him, it's the big man himself - Godzilla. If Gigan is a rushdown, Destroyah a Grappler, and Kiryu a Zoner... Godzilla is a great all rounder, having sweeping attacks, cool beams, and SO MANY REFERENCES. He has his dropkick, his air-charged-special is a reference to him flying against Hedorah, he has the little victory dance too! His block special is him using his breath into the air, like his victory cry in the Legendary movies! His gameplay loop is simple and fun, swinging your tail around and dragging your opponents across the stage! He's like if Rowa was more brawly. There isn't too much to say, it's the big G - but his S-Class deserves some talking about. It turns him into Burning Godzilla, by far the best S-Class transformation out of the 4 characters here because it actually drastically changes the character! So much love went into Godzilla, and I couldn't be happier. His simple and fun playstyle makes me also want to play as him.
Overall, all four characters are really fun, and have MEGA fanservice written all over them to the Godzilla fans. If you love Godzilla, I urge you to buy this pack, it is very much worth it. My only gripes really, are that Godzilla's Ultimate is slightly worse than Rawa's in cool-factor. This might be because Rawa's ultimate is Shin-Godzilla based while they didn't want to go too far from the Spiral Ray for the actual Godzilla. And to make it clear: THAT was a nitpick. They all have great gameplay, they're truthful to the source material, and they're overall just awesome. Do you know how COOL it is that we can have this many Godzilla references? It made me realize that we haven't seen Godzilla in so long in a video game, that I can't help but burst in appreciation. You know the people making Gigabash really care, and I can only wish more people who loved Godzilla or these type of monster brawler type-games played Gigabash to see how wonderful it is. This pack is definitely worth the money you put into it.
TLDR: For 10$, you get 4 characters. All of them are worth it gameplay wise as they all have different playstyles, design wise there is a little something for everyone, and they all adhere very much to the original sources where they originate from, making plenty of references. The pack is worth it, and I recommend it.
