Dust & Neon Review (Cosmic Hatter)

It'd be neat if it wasn't geared toward you taking inevitable damage. Most of the damage you'll take is going to be from something flanking you or the stupid rolling bots flushing you out of cover, forcing you to get shot by a gun-bot, and that's just at the beginning of the game. From the forced-death mission, there's also shield users, grenade users, and explode-on-death rollers later on, which... Might work if this was actually 3D and you had stronger weapons and a way to dodge out of damage or position away from it to begin with (since cover is meaningless as you're going to be immediately flanked or flushed out most of the time).
The guns exacerbate this. You can hold barely any ammo, and the only thing that 1-shots is a good rifle... Which of course has the least max ammo and takes the longest to reload due to the weird reload mechanic and the gun itself having 6 bullets.
There's also randomized gun stats that just plain suck. Accuracy is a stat here, so you can be frustrated with having your reticle on something, then the bullet deviates and doesn't hit, making you take damage (VERY noticable during the tutorial when you're asked to shoot bottles off of a crate); Handling is there to make reloading slower, not faster, it's always below 75%, and the lower it goes, the harder to reload it is ; You'd think having more mag size would be good, but, nope. Takes WAY longer to reload in a game where you need to shoot and reload fast for maximum worth. Boo.
There's also just some plain old issues, too: Bots can hear you from three houses away, and can spawn in the areas/sections behind you, and they themselves have horrible AI that just randomly does stuff, making crowd control an impossibility while the 14 bots that just got alerted from you shooting a single roller in a shed then swarm towards you from out of the nearby buildings two or even three houses over (not counting the ones that spawn from the unenterable areas). Also, where you point your mouse is NOT where you're going to aim. During the first boss, I had my cursor over him while behind cover, aimed, and suddenly it was in the direction the character was facing, not where my cursor was.
TL:DR, I think this is trying to be a precision shooter, but, it doesn't have everything set up like it actually is one. Enemies do whatever they please, even crouching outside of cover, while you're going to get forced out of cover, you're going to not have enough bullets in the gun when you need them, and reloading is weird and slow. Pass this up.
