Dark Souls II: Crown of the Ivory King Review (Batman of Astoria)

The final DS2 DLC has very beautiful environments and overall decent exploration, but this one has the most annoying gank out of the base game and the other DLCs, making it quite frustrating at times. In addition, having to go over the areas twice after defrosting everything to get the other knights to help you in the final boss fight is cool but slightly tedious because of the somewhat drawn out level design. Overall, I liked this DLC but it was quite tedious overall because of constant gank squads. Since it felt a bit repetitive, it makes it a bit worse than the other DLCs. You can beat this DLC in about 3 hours. The second DLC is better, and I would say maybe this DLC is overall better than the first DLC - even though the first DLC (Sunken King) looked cooler overall. The level design is pretty decent and definitely different to the core game, but it is quite unique and different in the sense that this level design isn't similar to Dark Souls 3, but more like Dark Souls 1 in some ways. I guess the closest comparison I can make is that this feels like Dark Souls 1's Undead Burg and Undead Parish areas on the way to the Gargoyles boss fight. 7/10
