this dlc was actually made by a literal demon spawn, an acolyte of hell, a disciple of lucifer. 90% of the areas consist of gank squad after gank squad, 3-5 mages periodically spamming spells and stagger locking you while some dipshit grunts, golems and giants with way too high poise try to gank you. not to mention while all of this is happening you have a never ending blizzard turning everything white. and if you do clear the blizzard more enemies awake, some with ranged attacks like there weren't enough projectile throwing retards and some which will sneak up on you and backstab you. you progress a bit and come across these weird hedgehog things which roll like skelly wheelies and gank you, you also take damage if you even contact them. you fight a white phantom which has stupidly high poise and hp, and he just starts running once he gets to low hp. of course you can't catch up to him because unlike you the piece of shit has infinite stamina, and he heals all of his hp back in some backalley. eventually you will chase him into some cave where a fucking white jabba the hutt will be waiting for you and they will gank you together. aava is an okay boss though, i liked her. and burnt ivory king is pretty cool but the weird gank vs gank fight you have before the boss fight itself is weird and unnecessary
and then of course you have the frigid outskirts, the worst area in the souls franchise by far. the only thing i'll commend them for is the 2 npc phantoms you get because i would have actually started tweaking if i didn't have them. you run for 10 minutes in a completely barren wasteland save for the ruins of a few buildings while reindeer with infinite poise and ridiculously fast attacks ambush you, sometimes 2-3 at once. they only attack during snowstorms which completely block off your visibility and leave you as defenseless as the guy holding b in csgo getting flashed 8 times for a whopping 30 seconds, giving you very slight visibility for 10 seconds before the snowstorm starts again. the reindeer also have ranged lightning attacks and even have moves to space themselves from you when they do it, and you genuinely can not see what the fuck you are even supposed to dodge because of the snowstorm. there are no bonfires here so if you die you have to run for 10 minutes back to the boss room. and the boss itself is just 2 reskinned aava's ready to gank you, of course. if you kill one the other regens hp and takes decreased damage for 30 seconds too because fuck you lol. all of that pain for a completely forgettable dogshit boss fight
this dlc is the worst dlc and even the worst piece of content fromsoft has ever released. i hope everyone who had a part in making this piece of shit are barred from ever working on video game creation again, and instead are given jobs as advisors to satan since it seems that's what they do best
