Age of Empires III: Definitive Edition - Mexico Civilization Review (¤ βℓооđч ¤ Nico-Kun!)
The Mexico DLC for Age of Empires III: Definitive Edition adds Mexico as a playable civilization, alongside a new Historical Battle (two if you own the United States DLC as well). Similar to the United States DLC, Mexico used to be available through revolutions, but this DLC adds it as its own, separate civ, with unique mechanics.
Gameplay wise, it plays more or less like the United States: rather than choosing politicians during age up, you get to pick from several different Federal States, which grant you bonuses and Federal Cards for your shipments. However, Mexico also gets a Revolution option, which differs from European revolutions. Rather than being limited to the final age, Mexican revolutions can be performed starting from the Commerce Age (the second one), and after a revolution, you can choose to "go back" to Mexico as your next age up. An interesting mechanic that adds even more variety to a civ that's already varied enough, I must say that I'm pleasantly surprised at how the devs keep improving the amount of uniqueness in the different civs.
Personally, I'd say that Mexico is my favourite of the DLC civilizations, if only because they bring the most variety. Their Hacienda building is a great farm/estate replacement, which not only allows you to generate food or gold, but can also be set to generate livestock (which it then automatically fattens, and with the right cards, even harvests), or to train Settlers. That building alone is, in my opinion, one of the best things from the Mexico civ. I definitely recommend this one, and I'm keeping my fingers crossed for more revolutionary civs in the future.
