Wreckfest İnceleme (Curdiss)
Ever since the Burnout series of games was murdered by EA studio politics fans like myself have been seeking a replacement for it's niche in the racing genre. Originally what made Burnout special was Criterion's Renderware engine, the engine that powered the amazing crashes in the game. At the time other games weren't doing spectacular crashes due to licensing restrictions.
Wreckfest, like Burnout, is all about the crashes. While lacking a crash cam Wreckfest DOES feature a replay mode, In which you can pour over each and every crash in a race from every angle and at a variety of speeds.
The collision system even takes it a step further than Burnout ever did. In Burnout even when you were wrecked your vehicle was still vaguely car shaped NOT so in Wreckfest. Expect to have entire ends of the vehicle smashed in or missing, expect to have the engine completely exposed. Expect to cross the finish line, still in the race, missing wheels. When choosing the damage level, I recommend 'Intense"
If you were a fan of the burnout games you no doubt remember the early-mid 2000's soundtrack, Full of licensed pop punk, rock, and Avril Lavigne. Well that's all here to, but it's on a budget this time. No you won't recognize any of the artists, but the spirit is still there, and the lyrics are edgy as ever.
Burnout was created as the arcade racer's response to Gran Turismo and in this aspect Wreckfest finally shows us that it is not, In fact, Burnouts perfect child. Wreckfest is only half an arcade racer. Ultimately Wreckfest is more about racing than combat (Though there are dedicated demolition derby events to satisfy that itch). And while the destruction is as good or better than the burnout series, Wreckfest doesn't have half of Burnout's speed. Catching up to the rest of the pack if you fall behind is a tough ask on even the middle difficulties, And if you crash in front of the pack expect to be taken out of the race. That's right, no redoes here, once your cars healthbar is depleted, you're DNFing. Restart and try again. Drifting isn't of much benefit and you need to seriously consider how you're going to take this next corner before you're in the middle of it.
I am happy to tell you however that these things go for your competition as well. When you take another driver down to zero, they're out of the race, and their wreck becomes an obstacle for you and the other racers until all the laps are done. Finding the best line through a field of wrecks is genuinely one of the greatest experience in arcade racers since I got my criterion license in Burnout Paradise. And not only do you get points for wrecking other racers, Wreckfest even features it's own revenge system. When a driver hits you for big damage, they'll become your rival, and you get extra points for messing with them.
Before my purchase I wasn't really sure if I'd like the game. I was only familiar with a few games, The Burnout series, Split Second, Twisted Metal Black. And the more simulational stuff I did try I didn't like. But I did try it and it's currently my favorite racer right after burnout paradise. If you're on the fence like I was I encourage you to try it, and if you don't like it refund it. You have 14 days after purchase and 2 hours of game time before they stop accepting refund requests.
I consider Wreckfest a Must try for fans of the Burnout series.
