Yu-Gi-Oh! Early Days Collection Review (Salt Baron)

I hate to say it, because it's a fine collection (a little barebones, and the lack of a turbo function really hurts the more tedious games), but this is a game where you should wait for a sale.
Pros:
+ Rewind feature is great if you accidentally hit the wrong button
+ Save states make some of the games way more bearable (being able to save before duels in Reshef makes the game much less awful)
+ Some of the games, like the Eternal Duelist Soul, are genuinely fun
+ The AI doesn't "cheat" (have unfair knowledge)
+ The "enhancements" allow you to skip some of the grind if you so wish, which can make Reshef considerably more accessible for people unfamiliar with its crap
Cons:
- The AI is extremely primitive. It was never given rules not to go minus in cards over the worst possible plays imaginable. For example, in the games based on the actual card game rules, it loves to activate Magic Jammer and pitch a card in response to you targeting Magic Jammer for destruction. This is a play no sane human being would make.
- Almost all of the games lack multiplayer features. Given what I just said above, that can be a huge bummer.
- A lot of the games operate on "Madden Rules." What the heck do I mean by that? Well, they're often just updates of the previous game(s). So while you do technically get a variety of games, that variety is a lot more limited than it sounds.
- Some of the games are REALLY interesting to check out and play ONE game of. I don't mean clearing the game, I mean literally playing ONE match. Destiny Board Traveler, some of the early Game Boy Color games, Monster Capsule, and Dungeon Dice Monsters all feel like extremely weak entries compared to entries such as EDS. Dungeon Dice Monsters in particular is just absurdly tedious. You roll dice for crests to take actions, and you and the AI just stand there blinking at each other until you FINALLY crush it with movement and attack crests.
All in all, it's DECENT. The collection itself is nice, but the games collected vary wildly in quality.
