Yakuza Kiwami 2 Review (Rough Remi)
If you have played Yakuza 0 & Yakuza Kiwami, this game has a lot of similar elements. This is a good thing and an average thing. Having been very enthusiastic about the franchise since playing Yakuza 0, I was a little disappointed that the game is set in much the same places again. I feel like I know Kamarucho and Sotenbori better than my own city.
It seems that the more games you play in this series, the less interested you are in the minigames, as they tend to be the same as those from a previous game. There are a few new ones, but it especially gets boring to play Mahjong all the time. I can't see the point of playing hours and hours of Mahjong in this franchise.
The aforementioned negatives are more than made up for by the fights, the facial expressions (always the funny expressions expected from the franchise), the humour, the entertaining substories, the music, etc. You can also look forward to see many delightful characters.
Meanwhile, the Majima Construction mini-game introduces a tower defence-style game that gives you a different kind of strategic engagement. It could almost be considered an extra game.
The Cabaret Club is back and it's hotter than ever. You can dress your ladies to your taste while 'the oil baron' keeps the cash rolling. This mini-game offers a mix of management and social interaction, providing a relaxing yet strategic break from the main story.
The Bouncer missions can be challenging, but with the right tools it's doable.
The final tip is to have your iron with you, as Amon is back on the scene and it's always fun to do a little ironing on his face.
Not surprisingly, this game will take quite a few hours to complete all the achievements. Have fun!
