XCOM 2: Shen's Last Gift Review (servvsumbrarum)

Greetings Again! Looking at ‘Shen’s Last Gift’ as the counterpart DLC for the Alien Hunters seems a bit unfair at a glance, this DLC seems to provide a bit more in terms of content even though it probably took less to build. With that said I still wanted to do my best to gauge it as a standalone piece. Let’s Discuss!
Beep Boop Mother F….: Who doesn’t love another class, more customization options and new weapons? To be fair this is all wrapped into the new class of the DLC, the customization, weapons and class skills are only an option for a single class. But it’s a fun class to play. In some ways it can come off as just as bad Grenadier (which is just a bad Psi-Op) but I do think it brings some tricks to the team. I just ultimately felt as if it was my worst performing member of my strike team. With that said the single mission you do was enjoyable, better than Alien Hunters and is a 3 Part Mission too. I do kind of wish this was implemented into the rotation of biomes / mission objectives. I feel that X-COM 2 needed more mission variety more than more story (even though more story would be welcome).
Though not as much of an issue compared to Alien Hunters this DLC does seem a bit thin. I would have been happy to pay a bit more for a new mission type and Biome and wish the Class was a bit more effective. Overall, you are probably going to grab it with the bundle so I’d still recommend it. Enjoy!
