WWE 2K25 Review (Snow)

I can only recommend this game to die-hard wrestling fans. The fun comes purely from being able to wrestle, but beyond that, 2K has done everything possible, at our expense, to make this experience frustrating.

The absurd paywalls, locked characters, and VC system feel like deliberate attempts to strip the game down while charging extra for what should already be included. 2K’s false advertising of the game’s new modes is blatant, and their handling of the PC version is even worse. The claim that PCs can’t handle what consoles can is laughable. Well bad news for you, 2K, they absolutely can. There’s likely more legal ground to explore regarding the differences between the PC and console editions, beyond just false advertising. Let me know, because I’m already calling them out on their nonsense.

As for the game itself, this is probably the last 2K title I’ll ever buy after getting my money’s worth. I do like some of the new gameplay mechanics and additions from ‘23, but so much more could have been done; especially in polishing the models and fixing the bugs. Instead of dedicating time to improving the game, they focused on features designed to frustrate players just enough to tolerate, but not enough to walk away. If they had insisted on making a better game instead of a cash grab, this review would be very different.

MyRise is a disaster. I absolutely hate it. I never touch MyCareer modes in 2K games because they’re always full of nonsense, and this one is no different. The character customization is among the worst I’ve seen in a game like this, the story is mediocre, and while the gameplay is passable, the microtransactions are disgusting.

The other modes, thankfully, redeem the game somewhat. MyFaction and MyGM are the only reasons I haven’t refunded it. I can at least enjoy my time and have fun there.

Visually, the graphics are noticeably better, and with updates, the models could be further refined. However, the soundtrack is garbage. They’ve clearly given up, offering a mere handful of songs; many of which don’t even censor profanity anymore. It’s a weird shift from 2K bleeping nearly everything (super annoying) in past games to now just throwing in incoherent cursing for the sake of it. Feels like a budget cut more than anything.

Overall, it’s 2K—what do you expect? In a few months, like every other entry, this game will be worth twelve bucks. They’ve already mapped out the game’s entire lifespan, so don’t expect meaningful updates or added features.

Final Verdict: 4.75/10
