This is pretty fun, right away there's a bunch of stuff that's warm and comfortable. The OST is good, they did a good job on it and it reminds me of Hotline Miami almost. The menus and the color choices in general are pleasing to the eye and good.
So right away before even playing i was like oh sh*t!

Gameplay-
1. I was a little disappointed that there's no Character creator, and you kind of jump around through a whole bunch of character stories, so it's hard to get attached because right away, BAM you're off in another thing? But like you don't play RPGs and go "f*ck, i couldn't make my own guy, i have to be link" or whatever
2.Characters are over the top and fun, the allusions to real life stuff are pretty fun as well. Obviously it's a love letter to the 80s.
3. game design choices remind me of Mario RPG for the Super Nintendo, like REALLY hard. It has the same kind of QTE mechanic, only it's more forgiving, and it has an overworld and "levels" the same kind of way.
4. The buttons are decent, they thought of things like managers having moves, it's f*ckin cool man!
I haven't gotten very far yet, but I'm having a good time. I do think the game is a perfect like $24.99 sort of title, and the devs charging $30 for it might be a little arrogant, especially given all the terrible reviews they're getting?
I don't think the reviews are fair per se, and I like the game so "game journelism" can definitely f*ck off, but it feels a tad overpriced.
Finally there's a ethical question I don't know the answer to- did these famous people sign off on this? Some of them are dead, did their estates sign off on this? My main worry here, is that like is DDP getting paid for this? He's in it? And if not, that's really not cool, and grounds for a No review from me, but for now, since i'm not sure, and I'm having fun, it's a yes.
Get it on sale if you can, it's good, but not worth $30. Something tells me it will be on heavy sale rotation by Xmas, too.
