WorldBox: God Simulator Review (Choiette)
Overall this game is pretty fun, it's fun to spend hours watching different cultures rise and fall, rooting for underdog kingdoms to survive the worst the game can offer. I have no issues with the updates and features they bring because they do make the game more fun.
My only issue with the game is that it's just a pain to keep track of things. Every time a new culture, new language or family appears a new colour is assign at random. It's probably more realistic or authentic, but it just means it's a pain to keep track of. I think the game would benefit from having a system of one colour per culture or kingdom which other aspects are assigned. I.e if a kingdom's colour is blue, then the language, culture, religion and clans that come from it is also blue unless a new kingdom is formed.
In a similar vain, the family system doesn't work as well as i hoped, often lineages stop beyond the grandparents or children, you don't really get to learn about a person's ancestors or extended family. It also in some ways defeats the point of having a clan system. Outside of this, there can just be too many families within one village, I feel as though it should be something reserved for nobles (though once again might defeat the point o having clans).
I do have some issues with the combat, but those mostly come from personal preferences, such as having archers shoot in a direct arc rather an indirect arc, spears being held overhand rather than being used like a sword and perhaps the lack of units forming battle lines. Cavalry would also be fun, but these aspects tend not to be industry standard to begin with so are more suggestions rather than issues with gameplay.
But yeah i highly recommend the game if you want a sandbox civ simulator, it's hard to keep a track of and not all the features work as well but you will definitely spend hours watching people build grand empires and survive the impossible.
