World of Horror Review (GamersBeGaming)

I've bought this game when it was in Early Access several years ago, and back then it was quite exciting and I was pretty passionate about this game, and thought that the dev felt the same. The updates were comping at a pretty steady rate and the EA box claimed that the game would be finished in a couple months, maybe a year - something that I did believe at the time.
However then the developer started behaving in a very unprofessional way - disappearing completely with pretty much zero contact, making people think that he ran away with the money - only to eventually come back and drop a modest update with some fixes and a bit of new content, then disappear again. The world of horror community was pretty active through the game's development giving plenty of suggestions and ideas, but I've literally never seen the developer show up on the forums or the game's discord server to acknowledge any of it or talk to people. A couple months before the game released I had pretty much no hope in it, especially since the small updates he released once every 10 decades were only adding some shit on top of the pile, not trying to go back to improve the old content and finish shit that was left half-baked and missing. But then he came back to announce that the game would finally release in 1.0! And I was actually really excited for it! Because I naively thought that he was secretly cooking some major update for the game that would properly complete it!
... and then I played the game and I saw... yet another stage of early access. A lot of stuff in the game is STILL left barebones, half-baked or just straight up unfinished - we were promised a new game mode, and its still missing from the game in 1.0. There's only one "alt timeline" and it only makes small changes to the quest and events in the game. You can interact with stuff in your apartment - all of it STILL has zero purpose, just like how it was in Early Access. You can find something like a bunch of tapes that hint on something more if you just used your TV to watch them - you can't do that, just like how you could't do it in early access. In 1.0 the "forest tapes" item is STILL just a red herring and a sign of unfinished content. Hey, you can go onto the rooftop at the school! What purpose does it serve? Absolutely fucking none! Just like through years of early access!
There's way more. Fighting ghosts will make you wish to join the dead yourself because it makes you either play a tideous guessing minigame, waste some money or just eventually kill the ghost with an attack dealing low damage per hit. Solving any case will leave you with a feeling of "that's it?" and they have ZERO connection between each other or anything resembling a "plot" you follow between each case. There's way too many events that are just "fuck you, you lose health/sanity/money/gain an injury/get closer to losing and can do nothing about it, teehee". Gods are supposed to be a grave threat, yet all the presence they have in the game are run modifiers and a couple small events for each god. And the "finale" to each run is very fucking disappointing and remained unchanged to how it was back in EA, when it felt more like a placeholder - you open the door to the lighthouse with keys you... somehow get after solving each case, go up the stairs and pass a couple stat checks or maybe one or 2 lame fights (absolutely nothing was changed or added compared to how it was in early access years ago) then go up to the top and... just win? Yeah, you literally just win and the ending you get is pretty much just "congrats I guess, I dunno... GG"
I believe the only reason why this game still has high scores is because of new players for which world of horror is just another FOTM game to obsess over for a week or two before moving on to something else (while leaving spam "positive" reviews that keep the score high) while pretty much all early access players who gave up on the game didn't bother to come back or make a review to voice their disappointment like me.
Seriously, let me just say this to you, new guy - did you get a feeling like "wow, this seems unfinished/half-baked" while playing this game? Then welcome to the club, because it's been that way for YEARS of early access and didn't change in the supposed "full release" of the game. Seriously, what is there to justify releasing it as 1.0 compared to the last EA version?
