Wizard With a Gun Review (uWu フレン)

Currently at about 4 hours. Beat the first boss, about 3 or 4 cogs before the second "world" boss. Watched some YouTube reviews and other steam reviews to compare how I feel about Wizard w/ a Gun.
Lots of complaints about the 5 min timer before chaos overwhelms. Many people complaining about crafting and inventory management. Other complaints about overall difficulty and slow progression/game play.
My take:
So far, I love wizard w/ a gun. All the complaints made are valid when i watch videos. All of the videos I've seen for day 1 full release videos are using a controller instead of keyboard mouse. Due to this, intuitively aiming is more difficult and quickly shift-clicking/ctrl-clicking helps a ton with inventory management.
As far as difficulty, it's a nice medium. I feel as though it is a little easier than I would want currently, but that is because I created solid synergies with my guns. All videos I have seen of day 1 reviews had just weird ammo mix ups that don't make much sense at all.
Tip: put oil w/ fire, lightning w/ stun bullet, and the freeze bullet with the cold bullet. (To me this is obvious, but after watching videos... i dont have much faith in some of those reviewers) Having 3 different guns also helps alot with ammo supplies and using the right tool for the problem. Guns have their own allotment of ammo. Meaning if I have 4 revolvers, they all have their own ammunition pools and do not share ammunition with others. This is a great thing and enables you to bring in PLENTY of ammo after getting your second gun approx. 10-15 min after the tutorial.
Timer:
5 minutes isn't much time. It goes by quick. Get in, get out. It's a slight extraction shooter. But, if you kill a chaos spawn you get +30sec to the timer, and if you kill a larger chaos spawner you'll get 3+ minutes to the timer. This is plenty enough to fill up your inventory, get out and start crafting/upgrading.
Timer end:
Really, it's not that difficult. If you keep moving in a line towards the exit when the timer hits 0:00 you will be plenty fine 9/10 times. On top of this, the mechanic needs to stay specifically for farming arcane.
Crafting/inventory management:
If you are somewhat organized it is easy to know where all of your stuff is. Also, chests connect to any crafting station if they are touching. For the people that complain about how slow the smelter is. Put a second one down. Some of these complaints are so extremely invalid, because when people played vanilla minecraft 10+ years ago, they didn't complain about how slow that smelter went. They just put a second one down. I also feel the crafting is very rewarding and is amazingly balanced between cog/main story progression and craftability/obtainability of resources. When you first enter a biome expect to grind resources for a trip or two, upgrade your ammo and skills then go burn down the world. "Potions/consumables" are also extremely cheap to craft and use. One healing soup only costs 2 leaves, which takes 3-6 bullets to get with the revolver. 1 wood crafts 100 rnds of basic revolver ammo. I believe 3 or 6 basic revolver ammo will cut down a small tree, giving you 1-3 wood. Just numbers to help you understand there isn't much grind for the resources, but you do have to prioritize them.
Visuals: great
Audio: great
Soundtrack: honestly Kind-of mid.
Shooting and burning everything down with huge trails of fire, 10/10.
Gameplay loop:
Enter biome. Spend 1 or 2 trips obtaining the biome resources. Upgrade ammo/skills. Kill. Kill. Kill. Get cog. Kill kill kill. Upgrade more. Kill kill kill. More cogs. Kill kill kill. Upgrade, kill world boss. Repeat.
Monkey brain enjoy.
TLDR: good game. Good difficulty. Wouldn't recommend playing with a controller. Gameplay loop is solid if you're fine with getting resources, crafting/upgrading, killing, collecting cogs, big boss and repeat. Overall very well polished and a creative game.
