Wild Hearts Review (Chip)

I highly recommend playing this gem of a game and hope EA surprises us with a sequel, as it really saddens me that its support was quickly dropped.
This game is heavily influenced by Monster Hunter: World but with an added twist: the Karakuri. The Karakuri system is where this game shines, and it is divided into three parts: basic, fusion, and dragon.
The basic Karakuri consists of a crate, spring, torch, glider, stake, and anchor, each with its own respective purpose that can be used interchangeably. The crate can be used for scaling vertically or as projectiles (if using a mauler), the spring for reaching locations faster or dodging attacks, the torch for dealing elemental damage, the glider for scaling vertically and crossing large gaps, and the anchor for closing gaps between you and a monster or for scaling walls.
Fusion Karakuri is when you use a combination of the basic Karakuri to create a set structure that can change the tide of battle.
Is the monster…

Charging? -> Use Bulwark or a Shield Wall to deflect.
Flying? -> Use Firework to stun and force them to land.
Fleeing? -> Use Chain Trap or Harpoon to keep them in place and deal more damage.

While these are not all the possible fusions, this setup is what you will commonly use in your playthrough.
Dragon Karakuri are structures you can place on the maps to help you in and out of your hunts. They can be used to navigate, farm for ingredients/materials, create spawn locations, and create shortcuts around the map. WHICH I really do hope future Monster Hunter games incorporate some form of this system.
In conclusion, this game stands out with its Karakuri system, offering a twist on the Monster Hunter formula. The combination of basic, fusion, and dragon Karakuri adds depth and versatility to gameplay, making each hunt unique and engaging. This game is a must-play if you want more Monster Hunting.
