What the Car? Review (Drumbas)

Tribands game what the golf was a really fun and short game, so I was expecting something equally as good as that or even better when this was announced. Sadly a lot of my expectations haven't been met. Its still a fun game and as a result I will recommend this game, but I feel like a lot of the problems I had with what the golf stayed or got worse.
Lets get into the details of it:
This game feels like they went for quantity over quality
What the car starts off relatively interesting, the game constantly throws new ideas at you just like what the golf. Every 1-3 levels you get a new car to play with. This is fun but starts getting stale as most cars don't really change the gameplay up THAT much, not only that but there are a LOT more levels, I spent about double the amount of time 100% completing this game compared to what the golf. Most levels up end up feeling like a straight shot towards the end but with weird physics, talking about physics.
Physics in this game feel broken/buggy
Getting a new car often felt scary rather then exciting, and the reason for that is that most physics in this game don't feel good. You clip on a bunch of stuff on the level, your car handles extremely slippery, there are moments where I go up a ramp just to be stopped completely because the game doesn't recognize im going up the ramp, while trying to play with the level editor I constantly get black screens. There are a ton of examples of this I can name. So instead of being excited to try something new, I would often feel worried that the next car would end up being a really frustrating to control car instead. Most of the challenging levels in this game don't feel challenging due to design, but due to how clunky it can feel to do the most basic actions.
Community created levels
The game puts a VERY big focus on community made levels. This is awesome because it means you have an infinite about of levels, what is less awesome is how the game forces this aspect down your throat. If you want to get 100 % the game wants you to get gold on a couple of these levels. But 80 % of the time these levels barely feel functional or they are players just spamming a bunch of objects on a map and hiding the flag in the middle of nowhere. This is more of a nitpick, since I am happy community made levels are here, but while getting 100 % it felt very frustrating.
Repetition
Like I said the game is much longer, but the game doesn't do a lot to make that experience feel deep or interesting. Rewards don't give anything, levels need to be replayed multiple times to get a card and gold times, the music feels the exact same for the entire game. The game is still being updated but I don't feel like those updates have added anything interesting to the game, it still feels like more of the same and the last chapter that got released had half the levels compared to other chapters AND a lot of those levels were the exact same as previously released levels but with small obstacles added to them.

Overall
All this negativity might make it seem like I hate this game. I don't hate it, I think its great that there are games like this on the market and I enjoyed myself when a good level came by or when a smooth controlling car made an appearance. But I think the current issues I have with the game are big enough that I think its important to put that in my review. If you are looking for a fun racing/runner/physics style game then this is a great purchase. If you want a game that is child/family friendly then this definitely is, my child loved it even as he got frustrated at some of the physics. The game has a ton of content, I don't enjoy all of that content but its still meaningful content. As a result there are a good amount of people I would recommend this to, but with the notice that it could end up getting stale fast and the physics themselves feel messed up at times.
