Wartales: The Skelmar Invasion Review (Alabama)
Just finished the Skelmar Invasion DLC. Definitely the best of the DLC’s so far, pirates being the best prior to this imho.
I like the new mechanics of the fort battles, the archery towers, battering rams and the single use skills you earn along the way. Rescuing prisoners also make a nice change to the usual hack and slash fest. Nice story driven campaign.
Couple of niggles for me.
1. AI allies and enemies ignore fire and consequently are running through it all the time. Although you can equip items to reduce chance of catching fire yourself, it’s a pain spending time and valor point running around using first aid to stop people burning. None of the fires burn out so with some of the fort battles which start with fires, plus the one off skills (many of which cause fires) the whole place becomes an inferno. Need a bucket of water or a water-bomb skill please :)
2. Resting at an inn in Ormance does not generate the war contributions of rations, military power and construction materials. You have to camp to get them. Makes no sense to me, should get them whenever you rest in the war zone.
That said I enjoyed it and am looking forward to the next chapter of Wartales!
