Warhammer: Vermintide 2 - Warrior Priest Career Review (A Horse Named Sassy)
TLDR: Warrior Priest was made for and balanced with, in my opinion, Cata in mind.
WP is strong, versatile, and at times achieving God-Hood S Tier, but sits firmly within A tier due to lacking ranged. However, if the player skill is high enough, WP becomes an S tier.
Pros:
- Team Support via team temp health recovery when in Fury (Fury increases as you fight and decreases when you do not).
- Versatility (You can be DPS, you can be a weak Paladin, you can push).
- Great Horde Control using his Skill, allowing you to double bubble, bubble and revive someone from across the map, push back enemies in great arcs, etc).
- Mace and Shield is completely over-powered for horde clearing, but does minimal damage.
- Dual Hammers are amazing for damage and team recovery while in Fury.
- Appears to feel the most balanced when used in Legend and Cata, although team temp health recovery seems to be inconsistent (in gain) on all difficulties except Cata (where it feels quite overpowered vs underpowered, as you need lots of mobs to get the full effect, which Cata only so kindly supports you with).
Cons:
- Blightstormers and Leeches, along with bosses, give the WP a hard time (due to no range/high damage weapon/combos).
- No Ranged what-so-ever, except being able to bubble anyone from around 10 meters away, through walls as well.
- Middling damage when outside of Fury.
- Sports the highest damaging weapon in the game but cannot actually benefit as much from it without sacrificing mobility.
Conclusion:
This class is designed for high level play. I do find the level 5 talent on the far left is best for Cata as the Warrior Priest gaining thp back from staggering foes is a no brainer since the class revolves around stagger spam to support the team.
Couple stagger spam with increased stagger percentage, mace and shield heavy attack (which is a 1 combo attack where you flail the mace about and is great for clearing hordes/staggering groups of enemies), and an skill that gives you (and if you choose, a buddy too) god mode for 5 seconds, and you see the reason the class has no ranged weapons.
I do feel like the class needs a nerf to the skill, from 5 seconds maybe down to 3.5 or 3.75 seconds in duration, and perhaps an increase in the ultimate cool down from 1:20 to around 1:30 as to prevent 16-20 seconds of double bubble spam in Cata (using Decanter (+50% potion duration) and chugging a concentration potion).
Make no mistake, this class deals very low DPS compared to others, but you can make up for it in Fury with Smite, and the fact you are incorruptible with a permanent 20% damage reduction trait, and you can probably see why I fell in love with this class.
This is the ultimate class if you don't require a gun to dodge and kill baddies, until a nerf anyways.
Take note, all the damage your bubble blocks will still count as damage received, so you can see just how much extra 'health' you essentially gave them.
