Warhammer Age of Sigmar: Realms of Ruin Review (LegendBekker)

Such a promising Gem of an RTS.
Perfect launch, outstanding presentation & artistry, a true passion comes through all the features that are not gameplay.
But it suffers from the greatest Sin of all recent big RTS imo: no Game Modes variety:
- no annihilation mode
- BFME style build-able but even more limited
- no terrain corruption payoff for Controlling a part of the map, which can be very satisfying when other parts of gameplay are lacking. Paint the map is always fun.

I dropped the game 2 weeks after launch, played the open beta & bought on Day1, I saw the potential and it was glorious.
And now I'm coming back to play it, it is a good but lacking RTS.

The Dawn of War vibes are strong with this one, and I wish it had gone the more creative route Relic always entertained with build-able defenses.
I wish the devs had stuck with it, and developed it into a deeper, free-er style of gameplay like how Relic kept fixing the very rough Company of Heroes 3 post-launch.
Sometimes, you just got to stick with it until it works.

So unlike Company of Heroes 3, we can't follow the greatest development adventure and say "Yes, it's worth 60€". But it is a very solid game.
I am recommending it because:
1. I love RTS, and I want to see more.
2. Realms of Ruin is one of the best RTS of recent years despite gameplay shortcomings... Realms of Ruin 2 or Big Faction Expansion better be a thing, otherwise such a waste of talent!

Frontier, one advice: Stop going for dumb down gameplay. Jurassic World Evolution is so shallow/no stakes it's not very fun, bring depth, bring player decision making & randomization, fighting the odds is THE fun.
