Warhammer 40,000: Speed Freeks Review (BadKoffee)

I don’t think I have ever written a game review, but the unique charm of this Speed Freeks and the tough situation it is in compels me to speak up.
It’s clear this game was made with a lot of heart. Maybe it’s ignorance on my part, but it scratches an itch I’ve never felt satisfied by in any other title. I love the Ork fantasy setting, the distinct abilities of each car. The customization system is also a pleasant surprise—currently tied to in-game challenges instead of locked behind DLC (for now?), which I really appreciate.
The maps are large and thoughtfully designed, with enough environmental obstacles to make every race-and-gun battle require just the right amount of strategy—without losing the adrenaline rush you’d expect from high-speed combat.
That said, the game isn’t without issues. Matchmaking is a particular pain point, and at launch there were only around 250 players online. While the bots do a solid job filling in for missing players (in my ammeter opinion), I’m genuinely worried that the game might fade into obscurity due to a rough launch and limited marketing. It would be a real shame, because the foundation is here for something special—if the developers can justify investing further time and resources to polish it.
If you're even mildly interested and can afford the price of admission, I really encourage you to give it a fair shot. If you run into matchmaking trouble, try restarting the game and see if it grabs you before the refund window closes. I think you’ll know within the first hour whether it’s for you.
