Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 - Dark Angels Chapter Pack Review (Iron Zi Britannia)
Disappointing Chapter Pack with Missed Opportunities
As a long-time fan of Warhammer 40,000 and the Dark Angels, I was really hoping this Chapter Pack would do the iconic chapter justice. However, I find myself thoroughly disappointed.
First and foremost, the pack only includes 8 skins – 3 from the First Founding and 5 from the Ultima Founding. This is a stark contrast to the Ultramarines Chapter Pack, which had 13 skins (5 Second Founding, 1 Successor, and 6 Ultima Founding). Given the rich lore of the Dark Angels and their numerous successor chapters, it's frustrating to see so many missed opportunities for additional skins. Chapters like the Consecrators, Disciples of Caliban, and Guardians of the Covenant are notable absences. Even something as simple as a unique leg greave pattern for the Disciples of Caliban would have added depth and variety to this pack.
What’s more, there’s a personal bias against some of the Ultima Founding chapters included. The Unnamed and Bringers of Judgement stand out as two of the most forced, edgy, and overblown concepts in recent lore. The Unnamed refused to take a name for their Chapter, considering themselves unworthy, which feels more like a childish plot device than meaningful lore. The Bringers of Judgement are equally problematic – they treat an entire world as guilty if even one citizen shows weakness, a belief that simply doesn’t align with the core values of the Dark Angels. These concepts just don’t resonate with the long-standing traditions of the chapter.
Ultimately, this Chapter Pack feels half-baked, and the lack of meaningful representation for the Dark Angels’ various chapters is glaring. If you were expecting a rich, diverse set of skins, this isn't it. I really hope future packs pay more attention to the depth and lore of the chapters and their successors.
Also Mk7 helmet unlock is Ravenwing themed only. sorry Mk7 fan boys
