Warhammer 40,000: Rogue Trader - Lex Imperialis Review (Garessta)

Good: you can name the good boy Hein
you can pet the good boy
Bad: good boy dies a lot in battle
ok, funny part is over. now SERIOUS STUFF.
first of all, the animation team outdone themselves on the cutscenes. kudos, lots of kudos.
STORY:
Solomon is like second Heinrix if Heinrix only hesitated about romancing you for *checks her clock* two warp jumps. We will see how it goes, I didn't go far with him tbh. He's fine ig, but I hoped for something more unusual.
MECHANICS:
Overseer doesn't seem to be as OP as Executioner was, but it's not a super-niche archetype like Grand Strategist. however....
IMPORTANT PLZ READ THIS OWLCATS - I don't like how Overseer interacts with 1st archetypes. Because it almost doesn't.
With other 2nd archetypes there were either clear synergies (like Blade Dancer WS-to-medicae + executioner medicae-to-HP stuff) or simple stacking (how operative can boost PER to go Bounty Hunter and get PER bonuse & bonuses for damage etc from both archetypes; they work together to do one thing (shoot enemies).
Overseer works differently.
90% of the 1st archetype abilities do NOT interact with pers in ANY WAY and vice versa, pets don't interact with 90% of the 1st archetype abilities.
They have their own scaling, etc.
You can take the Eagle with operative and officer, but either way you will be an operative/officer who ALSO has an eagle and can use it to deal damage while having almost no interactions between 1st archetype and eagle attacks.
Psy-raven is made to retranslate buffs and debuffs from psyker, but there are very few psyker buffs/debuffs that arent already AoE (and NONE that have to be cast more than once in a battle.)
Skulls work for officer, but operative simple doesnt have almost ANYTHING to retranslate with them.
Dog is... I'm squinting really hard at it atm.
All in all - there's way less space for builds with the new archetype that dont look like two halfs of a build put together and badly held together with a ducttape.
ALSO NOTABLE PROBLEMS
- although raven and skulls are supposed to be "low priority" (enemies dont attack them while there are other options) they die ALL THE TIME from enemies' burst attacks and AoE.
- line of sight and move distance is hard to understand for pets. I often can move a pet in a point only to find out that I can't cast an ability on it anymore becaues it's out of my LoS.
A HUGE SUGGESTION
it would probably solve a lot of problems with synergies if overseer could be chosen as 1st archetype (a lot of 2nd archetypes have abilities that could in theory work well with pets). esp since pets already scale directly from character level.
