Warhammer 40,000: Rogue Trader - Lex Imperialis Review (Big E)

The writing is a step backwards from Voidshadows and feels rushed.
When you see the Triumph and Darkest Hour sections using placeholder-tier descriptions for the new origin, you'll have a good idea of what you're in for.
The story of the DLC is just okay, I don't particularly like Solomorne as a character and I feel he and the Arbites lack the same underlying interest I had with the bloodspun web. Kibellah was compelling from start to finish. Solomorne feels like what you see is what you get, he could swap positions with Sauerback and I wouldn't notice.
The new origin's talents are reskins of existing class mechanics and items, most are uninspired or uninteresting. The origin's subtypes on the other hand are very cool, it's refreshing to see skills(coercion) being used to modify talents. Part of me hopes Owlcat goes back and adds specializations or subtypes to existing origins. For RP, if nothing else.
The new Archetype is a pet class so the cool factor is there. Pet variation feels good.
The talents themselves are meh, but Overseer is a welcome addition.
General CRPG bugginess, I'm never happy to see it but never surprised. Nothing game breaking so far.
Pets seem to be working as described and intended.
All in all, it feels like Owlcat is cashing in some goodwill they built with Voidshadows. The whole package is just... okay. Unless you're really excited for the Overseer, i'd wait for a sale.
