War Thunder Review ([RIP] Bakunin)
I hate this game.
There might be some interesting mechanics, yes, but especially the placements of stupid bushes onto the vehicle completely ruins the game for me. It makes no sense gameplay wise and they even look silly. To get them - and I think they should not even exist in the game - you have to grind endlessly or buy them (pay to win).
Thank you devs for this mess. You ruined your game properly. Well done.
Another aspect is the supposedly realistic damage model. You get for example hit in the side of the barrel and your crew is getting killed by shrapnel. Try to find battlefield pictures of that one. I am working with metal. This is a highly unlikely scenario, especially when the breach is closed.
Or you hit an enemy in one of the rollers and the StuG turns still around without any problem and kills you with a one shot in the machine gun port or whatnot. We all saw so many pictures of tanks destroyed that way from WWII, didn't we. Not really, even if you try to dig for them. True, they did aim for weak spots like the turret ring and such, but they did not hit them consistently because of range accuracy etc. etc.
There is a reason why people called it "to be Gaijin-ed" when you are killed in the most stupid and unrealistic way possible. There is for sure no shortfall in mind-bogglingly silly death scenarios.
I do not mind one shot kills, but Gaijin is mixing arcade elements with realism. Sorry, that does not work. On top of it they try people to incentivize to buy premium tanks. One major reason for the balance problems.
So enjoyable gameplay to getting raped by premium tanks that look like bushes. Again nice job Gaijin. Better find a more honest way for people to pay money for your games.
