Wanted: Dead Review (Yonakamousou)

This game was done so dirty with the negative reviews. It's actually a ton of fun once you understand what the game is going for and honestly there's nothing quite like it. For sure don't bother if you are only in it for the story as the acting and writing is terrible, but if you like challenging action games that feel a bit different then there's a lot to enjoy. There's a few difficulty spikes which might catch players out, but there is surprisingly little BS outside of a few gruelling checkpoints late game.
I'd definitely recommend checking out The Electric Underground's videos on youtube to shortcut some of the pain learning the game's intricacies though.
EDIT: After playing through two more times on Hard/Japanese Hard I can confidently say this has become a favourite of mine. The finisher animations are so satisfying I dont think I'll ever get sick of them and it's a concise, focused playthrough which I see myself playing through every so often in the future which ironically is giving it a lot more playtime than some other games that are just one and done for me.
I also take back my criticism of the story/acting - the story actually has a lot more to it than meets the eye, and I particularly like the take on the 'synths' that is a bit different to normal. The storytelling and delivery method are definitely "weird" as are the interjections of the minigames but honestly I found it all really endearing on subsequent playthroughs.
It won't be for everyone, but I do really hope we see a sequel one day that maybe just expands out the post game content (like some costumes? some more weapon types like Gunsmith's AR? An extended ending?), adds some extra modes (time attack or an arcade mode) and just polishes up the experience (sound mixing was a major issue for me and things like animations that break every now and then, the enemy voices on stage 3 etc.) without changing the core gameplay and I think nobody in the target audience would have complaints. Until then, I'm hoping people will start to see past its flaws/acquired taste and see this awesome game for what it is.
