Vampire Survivors: Ode to Castlevania Review (Katsuni)
I'm not saying it's "false advertising" but... the "20+ new characters!" is... only technically accurate.
There are at least 80. There may be more, it's hard to be sure. There's a lot more content than the base game at least. And the other DLCs. Combined. So keep that in mind that if you thought the base game had "too much content" then you may be busy here a while.
Which, honestly, is probably what you wanted.
That said, there are a few new systems as well, such as the "coat of arms" system so that many of the newer characters get to choose which weapons they want to start out with as long as they're in the 20 listed "castlevania" themed weapons, and the vampire hunters all get alternate starting weapons to match their weapon type, so since they added a ton of new starting whips, you can choose which of those whips to start with once they're unlocked, instead of having to use that specific character's whip. There's a sorta vaguely similar feature with the familiars when you unlock them as well kinda.
Basically, there's a ton new content in absurd amounts, the new map is huge with multiple sections and the Symphony of the Night gate system built in and guarded by bosses so you can traverse the castle further across multiple playthroughs, and just in general a ton more stuff to do.
The DLC is cheap, but has an absurd amount of stuff to do in it, which I really can't stress enough. Full game releases usually don't even come close to this. It's well worth it, so don't even question it, just grab it right now. Don't even wait for a sale, it's excessively cheap already as it is and more than worth full price. You will absolutely get more than your $5 CAD out of this. They could have charged $15 and it would have been a good deal at full price.
This is what DLC from other games only aspires to be.
