Valiant Hearts: Coming Home Review (Big Boss)

Like other reviews, I agree that this game is more like a DLC than a standalone sequel in terms of time (it took me about 2.8 hours to finish it, despite me getting stuck quite often with puzzles), however, I found the story to be interesting and the ending to be true to the story of many American troops who returned after WW1. It's not pretty, it's not what he deserved, but by god that happened more often than we want to think. While I wished the story was longer, I truly couldn't see how that would be feasible, the story picks up in 1917, crawling to the end of that massacre, there isn't that many stories that can be told (at least on the western front, obviously things could have been explored around the world as it was a world war, but that would be a spin-off). The way I see it, damned if you do, damned if you don't. The only thing I could think of is that the post-war world would have been explored from the eyes of our beloved characters, which cover the topic of the physical and psychological trauma brought on troops, civilians, and society as a whole after the Great War. and the general downward spiral that followed after the war, with Europe reconstructing, the Americans suffering the Great Depression, and the Germans conceding a bitter defeat, which resulted in the fall of the Weimar, and eastern and central Europe left in chaos of various degree. However, I am not sure how many people would enjoy that tone shift and whether it would resonate with the player base.
In any case, I believe that the things the game did, it did well, most issues brought about the game are subjective, or are very valid complaints about the briefness of the game, and wishing more things were said. If you haven't played it I would reccomend that you do so, at least for the sake of closure.
