Unknown 9: Awakening Review (Viper)
Sweet Baby Inc
Do I need to say more? Fine.
Not only has this game been co-developed with Sweet Baby Inc, the comic book it is based on credits Sweet Baby Inc founder as one of the writers. Thus the Sweet Baby Inc involvement with this game has been conclusively proven. Which has not stopped Bandai from trying to censor this information from forums and live streams. Very scummy behavior that needs to be punished.
The game is not only DEI-ESG compliant, they also hired the DEI girl from the Wither show, where she was hired for being ugly. Yes really, the Witcher director literally said that she was cast to "challenge beauty standards", what a cruel thing to say about a woman you are working with. And of course her model in this game is vastly more hideous than the girl herself, as is DEI tradition.
On the technological side the game is a usual case of Unreal Engine being used by incompetent developers. For starters the game looks mostly graphically outdated by about 15 years with some levels looking very PS3, Horizon Zero Dawn running on a PS4 Pro puts this game to an absolute shame. The built-in benchmark looks even worse for some reason, even though benchmarks are supposed to represent the game, it looks more like Oblivion but very blurry. Also the game stutters because the developers don't understand how shaders work on PC, because why would they? DEI hires and cheap outsourcing contractors don't make very good game developers, who knew. Character animations also look terrible and don't even always work properly.
Another DEI-ESG game for the modern audiences, let's see if they show up to buy it, I'll wait 💀
We all love a cherry on top don't we folks? Here it comes: apparently Bandai though that Unknown 9 is going to be a Marvel-like franchise to build a whole media empire on, hence the aforementioned comic book and some TV or movie project that are or were in the works. Which is obviously absolute Concord-tier lunacy, nobody cares about the Unknown 9 franchise, let a lone this game. Remember how we always used to get mediocre cash grab movie games which sold because they were tied to good movies? This game is one of those, except there was no good movie, and no fans to rip off.
On the plus side, it's almost Friday.
