Underdogs Review (FrogPuncher)

Haven't completed a run so far but here are my thoughts so far on the game:
Pros:
- This game is basically what VR was meant to be. VR was kinda dead as a platform mainly because of the lack of actually good VR games besides Blade & Sorcery. They all feel restrictive or clunky with mechanics that try so hard to be realistic, it ends up sacrificing the fun aspect. You become the pilot of a big ass robot that has to destroy other robots and murder opponents.
- The gameplay feels smooth like butter. You move, hit and throw things as if you were in the mech. It doesn't feel like you control the arms directly. It feels more like you control the controls for the arms. The controls are super simplisctic and easy to pick up on. Everything is super responsive and dynamic at all times. You'll never feel "stuck" unless you get jumped by like 5 robots at the same time in a corner. The inputs feel lightweight and it makes sense since INGAME you control lightweight inputs. Just a little touch I love.
- The sound design and OST is just crisp. Props to the voice actors as well. You even get tips from your man in the ear depending on what's going on screen, which can really help if you're as distracted as I am.
- The graphics are just amazing and so is the artstyle. UNDERDOGS does this just right, with their own artstyle that just works. It's easy on the eye while remaining fresh and good looking.
Cons:
- Holy fuck is this game exhausting. My arms feel sore as fuck after I play for not even an hour. Seriously, if you don't workout much, take some breaks or you'll feel it the next day.
- While the movement is good, it can sometimes be hard to keep track of where you're at with how much you have to spin around, especially if you play with a cable.
- When you complete a level, the UI pops up exactly where you killed the last robot. It can be quite annoying especially if you were in a bad spot when you did. There's no "recenter" button which can be frustrating (Unless Im stupid and somehow haven't found it yet)
End:
I genuinely never had this much fun in a VR game in quite a long time. Seriously, if you even THINK about picking up this game, you should do so. I bought it full price and have no regrets. Do yourself a favor and buy this game as soon as you can get your hands on it.
