Turnip Boy Robs a Bank Review (03 chip)

First game where I wish there was a mixed type of review I could leave, instead of a clear negative/ positive.
The game itself is okay, the story is good (as long as you liked the first one, which I loved), but the gameplay is kinda bad. The music is amazing, and honestly might be the best part of the game. I'll probably listen to the sound track outside of it.
Even on the hard difficulty it doesn't feel like there's any challenge, because as long as you get a decent weapon you'll steamroll the bosses. They don't even get a chance to do their mechanics outside of the 'immunity' phases beacause you can hit them before they unfreeze. The bosses in the last game were more difficult, especially comparing final bosses.
The rogue like parts feels more like an obstacle than fun progression. I wanted to continue with the story but had to keep going back to base to buy random items to open doors. If you prefer a melee style, the upgraded weapons suck ass because the first 10 unlocks are all ranged weapons, which means you're holding onto the 1 good melee weapon you find and only have 1 gun to recycle every time you go back to base.
I did enjoy the random elevators, the pictures make you not waste time going into the ones you don't want and it rewards moving through the level quickly and remembering where elevator spawns are.
EDIT: worst part by far was resetting for 1.5 hours after I beat the game to get the correct elevators for my last 2 quests and 100% it. Please let me pay like 1m to pick an elevator that guarantees shows up
On top of that, the "Limitless Line" at the end of the last game is so much superior as a roguelike game, which only makes this one feel worse because I've played it.
Overall, I do love the story of turnip boy, and don't regret playing it, but the gameplay just isn't there.
