TT Isle of Man: Ride on the Edge 3 Review (The Gabe)
It's unbelievable. Each iteration of this game manages to have even more stupid menu navigation than the last, and be more annoying than ever before. The fact that they disabled the ESC key is beyond belief - what was the dev team even thinking?? And the fact that it's impossible to map either the arrow keys OR the numpad keys to the main controls of the bike is absolute insanity. How the hell are you supposed to shift gears with q and e while trying to control the bike with WASD? What the hell is going on??? It's ALWAYS the simple, basic, obvious things that are completely wrong in this series of games. If there was any other option for learning the IOM track I would never even consider playing this, and it's a shame that the stupidity of the menus and navigation and the stupidity of the control scheme on PC make a game that is otherwise not bad feel absolutely frustrating. What's next for ride on the edge 4, forcing you to use the mouse to control the bike and having menu navigation done via the buttons on your computer monitor? Maybe the volume control knob on your speaker could control the throttle while your mouse wheel controls the steering. Hey, if the publisher is reading this, you should employ me to help you make the next game totally impossible to play!
In short, if you're looking for a good game on PC then this is not it. If you want to do what I do and practise the IOM circuit, you can just make it work albeit with a lot of annoyance. It's a console game with extremely, painfully little effort put into making it usable on PC
