TT Isle of Man: Ride on the Edge 3 Review (5HÁD0WMÁK3R)

After what seemed like a meeting with a solicitor with all the form filling and signing in - along with the most tedious music I've ever heard (okay not quite as bad as Oasis but definitely worse than the on-hold call music you get when paying a parking fine you didn't deserve), I finally got to the audio controls and turned off the monstrosity. Not a great first impression i must say. Couple that with an irritating dialogue panel that keeps flicking on when you think it's finished (the voice over is great though), and I was getting tetchy. Am I ever going to get to play this game? But then I played it - holy moley it's intuitive and feels great! I can actually save a crash if I just had the back spin out a bit or something minor. Don't get this normally, it's either you touched a wall with your elbow and off you come or safely within the margins of the road - If I hadn't been able to rescue losing control irl I'd be dead a thousand times over by now. Love how the bike handles, and messing with the suspension seems to make a difference too. Epic! If it wasn't gone 2am I'd be all over this. Can't wait to have another go tomorrow! I loved the first one of this series, (I have the second but not played yet) and this was a pleasant surprise to have a great 3rd attempt (despite the mixed reviews) as I was totally expecting it to be a cash-cow by now. Perhaps I'll get to the crap bits soon and report back, but besides the music- it's awesome :) Did I mention the spluttering exhaust when slowing down? Oh arrr and hooligan mode - riding around the island any which way you like! This mode made me realise I don't really need the on track line guide, however it's either on or off - I think it should have a mode between these like only come on when coming in to a corner way too hot (just brakes). Also in the first game there were arrows center top of the screen tell you the next 3 directions - this was great for me although I always thought they should be bold and colour coded (red sharp, orange long, yellow easy type thing) so they can go in to the grey matter without having to look directly at them, however this doesn't seem to be included in this version so its the mini map or repetitive learning only. Can't please everyone all the time. But you can most of the time :D
