Trepang2: Survival Mode Review (Rikimaru)
Very Solid DLC for a great price!
It's worth noting the base game already has a Wave survival mode. That one is just 20 waves, getting harder each time. Or you can play Endless.
The new mode is really fun and challenging.
If you're not sure what it is, basically:
- You have a "hunger" meter that fills up over time until you die.
- You have 5 waves to complete the challenges. Each challenge you complete spawns "Food" which reduces the meter.
- After you complete them, all you have to do is stay alive until the extract opens on the last wave.
- After reaching extract, you're given 3 choices which are randomised combinations of the next map, enemy type, enemy difficulty, amount of ammo you pick up and money you earn.
So you end up jumping from map to map, swapping between all the weapons available, fighting varying difficulties and types of enemies. Lots of replayability and the skins that come with the DLC are the unlocks that tie to higher difficulties.
(You do have to earn the skins yourself)
I love the new grenades. Vortex grenade has become my go-to as it drags enemies into it and mulches them (don't get too close!)
There's a "Jiggly Boi" Player outfit which is one of the enemies in the game. Basically a generic gross looking mutant. Kinda looks like it's made out of poop. Idk. It's one of the enemies in the game.
The weakest part of the DLC is the cheats (I dont use them because you cant unlock anything with them on anyway) and the skins (but only because the game already has plenty).
