Trailmakers Review (CarsonTheOneAndOnly)
in a world ravaged by first person shooters and third person run arounds, littered by racing games and shock scare gimmicks. there stands a new champion. the people cried out, we miss a good build your own game experience and the heavens softly whispered....."Trailmakers." you are a cargo freighter transporting a load from one place to another. you are hit by an asteroid and crash into a planet where your only chance of escape is to build yourself a machine to get out. fortunately the cargo you have been traveling is machine building parts, unfortunately those parts are scattered all over the place and you will need to make machines to find more parts and thats the premise of the game. sounds simple enough right? right? wrong this games engine has been programmed to calculate structural load stresses, force vectors and friction and all mannerisms of physics. the real enemy is your over ambitious imagination. you will need to trial and error your way to victory here. build things, make them better, find their limits and then go back to the drawing board and approach problems with everything you learned so far and see what you made first and wonder why you designed that machine that way in the first place. when you succeeded and collected everything. the real challenge starts. there is a great community of builders that want to test their creations against yours. is your machine the most creative or iconic? is it the fastest, the toughest, will it reign supreme amongst the rest?
yeah, this game is great. it deserves its high praise for its online experience. Even if your an introvert that liked to play lego as a kid, this is a great game for you. if your the kind of person that relies on npc dialogue to enjoy a good experience I wont lie to you, there is none of that in this game other than maybe 5 minutes worth of tutorial from a lady on a radio telling you the basics on how to build. but dont let that dissuade you from this game. this game in its own rights, its a triple A title. the lego games doesn't have a leg to stand on compared to this game.
