When freedom is to much for me
Modern games consinst of many motors and signs to drive the player to destinat goal. Even the biggest open world game has no freedom. Just so many possibilties that disguise the thin red line guiding the player. Over the years many of us grow costum to that type of direction. So whenever a game appears without guidance, without said thin red line, with true freedom we get overwhelmend by the game.
I purchased this games by the pictures only. It looked similar to Dorfromantik, a game id enjoy and it kinda gave me a similar vibe. However when I started the game I noticed there is nothing to do. There is not task, no quest, no achievements, no blueprints, no challenge, no direction of what the games want you to do. Its marely a sandbox that you are placed into and then given the tools you are free to build a city. This games requires imagination, creativity and patiences for the player to be succesfull. Traits that I have, but became dull of the laste decade when it comes to playing video games. The trues is that as much as I have seeked a game like this when I was younger my adult self grew costum to achievements, questmarkers, building challenges or points to achieve. Starting this game for the first time left me in shock and my initial reaction was a devasting what a boring game there is nothing to achieve.
No awhile later I realized how wrong I have been. It might be that there is no guidance, it might be there is no quest, no building challenge, no contest no thin red line, but there is me. Me with my creativity, my wisdom, my patience and my own choice to build whatever town I like.
For me this realization is worth the money this games cost. So whenever I feel dull, brainrot and dumb after playing either indie games or mainstream media I now can return and remind me of true freedom within this video game.
