Touhou: New World Review (Shang.EXE)
I beat every quest in Marisa mode, played a bit of Reimu's.
This game is Scarlet Curiosity 1.5, including all of the previous bosses and most of the maps (there's only a few references to the previous game, so you don't need to play that one to enjoy this one). The gameplay is essentially:
Spam skills and beat up normal enemies for equipment that increases the drop rate
Find out what set of equipment maxes out the drop rate
Spam skills and beat up normal enemies for equipment that increases the drop rate...
Beat up bosses with strongest equipment you have while listening to rocking music
Versus Scarlet Curiosity, New World is overall an improvement.
3D Overworld
More Touhou-esque plot (if that's even a thing)
Much greater enemy, boss attack variety
Much easier endgame equipment stat rerolling
More complex level design, less padding (no more endless labyrinth floors that all look the same)
More music
Perfect Guard mechanism. This adds a lot more technical play by opening up opportunities for comboing
Loads and loads of bosses, boss rush
Yorihime
However, there are a few complaints:
Marisa has quite a lot more lag on half of her skills compared to Reimu and Remilia/Sakuya; since positioning is important in bullet hell, this hurts her
No Bullet Hell difficulty unlike Scarlet Curiosity. Game is relatively easy, excluding Yorihime who will annihilate your ass
Skills aren't as fun as in SC. Now that they all have their own cooldown, you cannot simply spam your favorite skill for as long as the gauge permits, and there's only six skills per character in this game. Previously, Remilia and Sakuya had 18 skills, and many types of weapons granted either special or boss skills to use
Dashing is useless since it requires a charge, makes movement much less precise, is interrupted by damage, and cannot be chained into jumping. Jumping around is barely slower even when traveling in a straight line and still allows you to have full control
Youmu and Yuyuko state that they are from the Underworld, which is Satori's area. They should say that they are from the Netherworld
tl;dr, good, fun game for an introduction to Touhou
